Founded in 1984, Pocono Heritage Land Trust is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting the natural heritage of the Pocono Mountains region by conserving land and inspiring people to care for, enjoy, and explore their natural world.
PHLT works cooperatively with landowners and local government to preserve land with environmental, scenic or recreational value. In some cases, PHLT acquires ownership of the land through donation or purchase. In others, it acquires the development rights through voluntary legal agreements called conservation easements.
The nature preserves managed provide visitors with a chance to experience and marvel at the natural beauty of northeastern Pennsylvania. These protected areas not only offer opportunities for hiking, wildlife watching, and other outdoor activities, but they also serve a critical role in safeguarding the region's natural and cultural heritage.
